Brené Brown's 10 Guideposts for Wholehearted Living are so brilliant. Her latest talk is called The Power of Vulnerability. This audible book is different than her TED Talk, it's not in printed form. This is a culmination of all of Brené Brown's decades of research. Six 1-hour sessions that will change your life. Session 5 & 6 are all about these guideposts. I've listened to this talk 3 times now in the last 7 months. I recommend a listen through, and then a second pass with paper and pen for notes because there are so many nuggets of wisdom everywhere.

Cultivate Gratitude & Joy - Let Go Of Scarcity + "Fear of the Dark"
Gratitude is the antidote to "foreboding joy." Brené Brown explains that fear stems from having our joy taken away. “How many of you have ever sat up and thought, ‘Wow, work’s going good, good relationship with my partner, parents seem to be doing okay. Holy crap. Something bad’s going to happen?” she asks. “You know what that is? It’s when we lose our tolerance for vulnerability. Joy becomes foreboding: ‘I’m scared it’s going to be taken away. The other shoe’s going to drop…’ What we do in moments of joyfulness is, we try to beat vulnerability to the punch.”
To combat this, I try to wake up each morning, before getting out of bed, and the first thing I think of is my "Gratitude list." I start to tick off the things I'm grateful for, in the coming day. It helps me to find that excitement for getting out of bed. It helps me start my day with a positive outlook. Each night, I try to go to bed thinking of the day, and remembering the moments I laughed, the love that was shown to me, and the moments I made a difference to someone in my life.
