Leadville

Leadville in it's mining heyday was a site to behold as one of the country's richest mineral regions. The first gold mining boom occurred in 1859, bringing 10,000 miners to the dangerous and high altitude area. The second boom began in 1878 with the discovery of extensive silver deposits bringing Horace Tabor "The Silver King". Leadville is still the highest incorporated town in North America at an elevation of 10,152ft with Mount Massive peering down from 4,000 feet above.
