A Little About the Artist:
Julie Leidel has been painting for over 35 years. She works mostly with gouache, a medium that has been around since the 1700s. This highly pigmented, opaque, matte-finish paint provides an old world feel to her artwork. She works with very small brushes to create the sharp line and shape details that build the overall artwork. She was a graphic designer, illustrator, and art director for 18 years before changing careers to a full-time artist in 2013. Julie was accepted as a Roycroft Renaissance Artisan in 2016, and elevated to Master Roycroft Artisan in 2021. Her love of typography has followed her into the fine art world, and her artwork can incorporate a variety of different text and layouts for different products. As an entrepreneur for over a decade, Julie has refined her business acumen and creative problem-solving skills through her love of fine art, commitment to her clients, and building her brand.
