2026 marks the 100th anniversary for the historic Route 66 across America. In Pasadena, CA it also marks the 150th Anniversary for Colorado Blvd. I worked closely with Pasadena Heritage for this gouache painting, and the original artwork will hang in the Blinn House Headquarters. We wanted to turn back the clock and bring back the nostalgic feel of Pasadena. You'll notice that the Route 66 HWY sign has been altered from the original shield design. There are companies in New Zealand and Europe that own a copyright on the original Route 66 mark, thus I needed to interpret it in a new way that gave a nod to the 1920s.
