The art pottery from the Arts & Crafts era is second to none. The ceramics created by the guilds of artists working for Rookwood, Marblehead, Grueby, Van Briggle, Newcomb, Saturday Evening Girls, and Teco (to name only a few) will continue to inspire me every single day. This series, although inspired by clay, is all acrylic paint and molding compounds on hardboard made to look like art tile. I start by creating the background texture, then I use a syringe to add the high relief design. Once dry, the texture is sanded, then the artwork lays flat and I allow the acrylic paint to pool in the newly created reservoirs. Some antiquing measures are applied to intensify the period era feel. Many of my paintings in the Art Tile Series are complemented with mottos I write which celebrate the awareness of self, and being in touch with nature.
This slideshow will list the original paintings I still have for sale. Contact me if you'd like to purchase an original.
